Two California companies recently sued for spamming the Seattle school district in violation of the federal Can Spam Act. The settlement ends Washington’s first lawsuit brought under the Can Spam Act.

More than two years after tha CAN-SPAM Act took efect, e-mail marketers still show a shockingly low level of understanding of the requirements and penalties of the law. A new report from WebSurveyor Corp found out that 81 percent of e-mail marketers unaware of the Act.
