As more email clients now support HTML emails, marketers probably think that plain-text email will soon get out of date. Stefan Pollard opined that it is actually quite the contrary.
Text email is more important than ever now that HTML is under attack from image-blocking, platforms that don’t properly render it, and aggressive spam filtering that targets non-standard formatting or message size.
Text appeals to more email readers due to its simplicity. It also prevents raising the red security flags as HTML. Text is and will continue to work across multiple platforms, including Mac, PC, cell phone, PDA, mail station, etc.
While text may have more benefits for deliverability and usability, still this format looks less professional compared to HTML. Well, this article is not about HTML v. Text but it is more about creating a successful email campaign using both formats.
Because logo won’t display in a text message, clear from and subject lines become more imporant. Regardless what other marketers think about text, every email should incorporate at least text elements into the message so it delivers what the marketers try to convey even if the images are blocked.
