Nearly One Third of Opens Occur Within The First Hour

Ben reports for MailChimp, based on open rates for just under 2,000 HTML email campaigns recently sent from the email service provider, that of the total number of people who would eventually open those emails:
- Nearly 1/3 will open wihin the first hour of sending.
- The majority (53%) will open within 6 hours
- 78% will have opened within 1 day
- Within 1 week, 95% of openers will have opened
- And people will still open your email a full 30 days after sending

This study shows that people are addicted to email. They check their email inbox every so minutes or hours.
If you are going to analyze your email campaign’s open rate result up to 95% accuracy could be gained if you gather the data one week after sending. People wil still open your email a full 30 days after sending, sometimes more.
Once in a while, I receive reply to my weekl newsletter months after it was published. Not sure, perhaps they are just saving my email so they could reply to my address directly — I use my real email in the from line, or they really have just opened it.
The sure thing is, I still see the open rate changes weeks after sending.
